The Right Photographer

On Friday, I had the pleasure of doing some headshots for Veronica & some of her fellow real estate agents. It was a great chance to meet a lot of people, and to get to know Veronica a little bit better!

As the second gentleman sat down, he said something along the lines of, "You've got your work cut out for you here... I am NOT photogenic!" And the following words slipped out of my mouth - "It isn't that you aren't photogenic, you just haven't found the right photographer!" In all honesty, I'm sure I read this on some other photographer's website at some point. But it has stuck with me for a reason - I truly believe it! I never thought I was photogenic until I received my engagement and wedding photos, and seeing the results of those photos has actually improved my own self-esteem! That resulting feeling also is what has driven me to pursue my passion of photography. My goal is for every subject I photograph to find a new level of confidence after viewing my photos. Each person has their own unique smile and personality when photographed naturally - and capturing that is my priority!

I've also been reading a lot of online discussions among other natural light photographers lately. On one thread, there was quite a heated discussion about photographers like myself, who charge less than many other area photographers due to the fact that we are still learning and experimenting. It is amazing to read... Sure, I'm not a "Pay $500 sitting fee and then pay per print from there" kind of photographer, but I like to think I still take quality photos and am consistently improving!
